Our design protege turned full-timer, Fflur, talks through the design process and shares the design details that make the new Diamante Dress the ultimate party dress.
This glamorous evening dress is a new style designed especially for the Spring/ Summer 2010 collection.
Kirsty, one of Karen Millen’s most innovative and creatively energetic designers, thrives on creating show stopping dresses. She has been beautifully embellishing and creating striking pieces for Karen Millen for many years. I always love giving her a helping hand creating artworks as I get to experiment with amazing jewels, crystals and all sorts of beads and marvellous trimmings.
The dress is available in two different colours, neutral champagne and a pale mint green. Both colours are inspired by vintage pieces. Our design team source inspiration everywhere! Each season we visit numerous vintage and antique fairs, not only to gain further understanding of historic embellishing, but we also discover exciting pieces that we can modernise so that garments will appeal to fashion audiences today.
For this specific dress, we worked some antique beading detail into the artwork of the final dress, but according to the designers the main inspiration was that the collection was titled “Showgirl’’, which brings to the mind sparkles and glamour.
To create this luxurious dress, we at Karen Millen work hard to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality of garment that is immaculately finished so that you look and feel magnificent wearing it.
