Looking on the bright side

I had my bag stolen last night, and lost my phone, ipod, wallet, keys, diary… In fact in between listening to hold music whilst trying to cancel my bank cards I realised I was, for some reason, carrying around just about everything that’s important to me, barring my passport.

It’s depressing to think that most of my precious things are completely valueless to whoever took them, and they’ll have been thrown away without a second thought.

It was my favourite handbag too, a big slouchy brown leather bag large and strong enough to carry a laptop and roomy enough to use for a weekend away.

It’s difficult to see the positive side of this, but of course nearly everything I lost was replaceable, and I gather it’s a good idea to replace all your makeup on a fairly regular basis anyway, so it may be no bad thing to be forced into giving up my rather manky old mascara and find a new shade of lippy.

Of course it also gives me a very good excuse to buy a brand new handbag and purse, and I’ve had my eye on the biker day bag for a while now. It’s quilted brown leather with studs and a buckle and belt – not dissimilar to the one that was stolen but much smarter.

Obviously I still wish all kinds of horrible things happen to the bag thief, but an excuse for some shopping is not to be sniffed at, and this bag will go some way towards making up for the whole sordid experience.
